National Geographic channel – “and Man Created Dog”

If humans were as varied as dogs we would range in height up to 22 feet tall and in weight more than 1,000 pounds. In the ultimate canine ancestral story, NGC traces the genetic journey from wolf to dog, taking viewers back 100,000 years to meet the “mother of all dogs.” It’s no accident that dogs evolved this way, as humans have been selectively breeding them for around 14,000 years to serve our needs as laborer, companion, hunter, herder and warrior, as well as to suit our aesthetic fancy.

7-29 The Day After

It’s Thursday Morning. I backed out of day two of mini season. I started to come down with some sort of sinus cold last night. All you divers out there know that your sinus system must be working well to decend underwater like that. Plus the abrasions, from the seabed I received while wrestling with these crustaceans, are itching and are irritated. I will wait for regular season,  that starts in a couple of weeks, before I try again.

In the mean time…

My favorite way to have lobster is to saute it in olive oil with fresh garlic. I then add whipped eggs and scramble. You can also add mushrooms or bell pepper or onion or whatever you like, and add a little cheese and top with salsa, then serve with toast…

7-28 Day one

Day one of mini season started today. We caught our limit of 24. One bug was a serious lunker lobster. I’ve got a few shots below. Mako was fired up! She always loves fresh lobster.

Lots of boats out there today. The conditions were near perfect. The peanut farmer and I are contemplating hittin’ it hard again tomorrow. Mini season allows 12 each in Broward county, and regular season only allows 6 each. We’ll see how the blisters on my feet feel, before I make my decision on heading out tomorrow.  Definitly a great day on the water.

I gotta work on a few orders, and then rest up in the a/c this afternoon.Enjoy the pics!

7-27 Mini season prep

It’s Tuesday morning here at Potcake headquarters. I’ve got a million things going on. One of my priorities is getting ready for lobster mini season tomorrow. The two day event starts at midnight tonight. Our crew is heading out at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. All our spots are plugged into our GPS. We usually get our limit for the boat… so I’m expecting that… we’ll see. Darin the peanut farmer is filling the tanks as I type. It’s crazy around here, can’t wait to be underwater in the morning. Mako is supervising the last minute details. I’ll keep you posted. If your heading out be careful. Mini season always ends up fatal for a few folks out there.CIMG3145

We’re proud to have Petie as a member of the Potcake nation.
Today we have orders to fill and hopefully finish up some of the display work for our booth at the Buckler craft show. Show is in 4 days at the War Memorial auditorium in Fort Lauderdale. Hope to see you there.
